Damien Chazelle, a French-American director, will preside over the Venice Film Festival jury

<p>At the 2019 Venice Film Festival, French-American filmmaker Damien Chazelle will preside over the main competition jury. From August 30 until September 9, it will take place. He is widely recognized for a number of very well-liked films, including Whiplash (nominated for the Oscar for best adapted screenplay), La La Land, First Man, and Babylon. La La Land received nominations from the Academy in 14 categories, and it won six of them, including best directing. At 32, he was the youngest person to get this honor.</p>

<p>With her film All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, American Poitras took home the Golden Lion at Venice the previous year. The Power Of The Dog, directed by New Zealander Campion, received the Silver Lion in 2021. With An Angel at My Table, she had already won the Grand Jury Prize at Venice in 1990.</p>
<p>In 2016, Hansen-Love won the Silver Bear for Best Director at Berlin for her film Things To Come. Last year, Her One Fine Morning was shown at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.</p>
<p>Filmmaker Jonas Carpignano will preside over the jury for the Horizons, a significant side event at Venice.
