Sumit Nagal of India won the Tampere Open tennis tournament on Sunday by defeating Dalibor Svrcina of the Czech Republic in straight sets, 6-4 7-5.

In addition to the Garden Open in Rome, which the 25-year-old championed in April, Nagal’s victory handed him his fourth ATP Challenger championship in five matches.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-91293″ src=”×452.png” alt=”” width=”1477″ height=”890″ srcset=”×452.png 750w,×463.png 768w,×90.png 150w, 780w” sizes=”(max-width: 1477px) 100vw, 1477px” />

Nagal had a shaky start to the match, dropping his opening serve game as Svrcina quickly built a 3-0 lead and then a 4-1 advantage.

The seventh-seeded Indian quickly gathered his composure and broke back three times in a row to put the Czech on the back foot, winning the first set 6-4 with some excellent tennis from the baseline.

After displaying poise in the closing moments of the first set, Nagal got off to a strong start in the second and broke Svrcina to go out to a quick 4-1 lead. However, the fifth-seeded Czech utilized cunning to break back right away, putting the game back on serve. The break didn’t matter, however, as Nagal increased the ante and re-broke Svrcina, finally seizing the lead 5-3.

Svrcine was not going down without a fight, so he exchanged some vicious blows with the Indian on his serve and broke back once more to give himself a chance to force a match-deciding third set. But it seemed like Svrcina was having one of those days when he gave it his all but was swiftly defeated by Nagal.

Nagal broke Svrcine once more at 5-5 to take the lead at 6-5. The Czech used some last-ditch power hitting to serve out the match and preserve three match points. When the Indian won the match in an hour and 44 minutes, he finally lost on the fourth match point.
