2023 Hamburg European Open Champion Alexander Zverev

<p>On Sunday, Alexander Zverev defeated Laslo Djere 7-5, 6-3 to claim the first Hamburg European Open title.</p>

<p>Zverev addressed his supporters, “To win here is more than winning a normal ATP tournament. I was born here, I grew up on these courts, and I first picked up a tennis racket in Hamburg.</p>
<p>Following a request for a punishment order from the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, the fourth-seeded Zverev started the week by refuting accusations of assault. Zverev said that his attorneys were taking care of the situation.</p>
<p>He defeated Alex Molcan, Maximilian Marterer, Luca van Assche, and Arthur Fils on his way to the championship match.</p>
<p>In 1 hour and 50 minutes, Zverev defeated Djere, who was rated 57th, by converting three of his four break points.</p>
<p>Arantxa Rus, a Dutch player, won the women’s competition on Saturday.</p>
