Net sessions are a crucial component of every cricket team’s training regimen, but they often devolve into a conflict amongst people.

Similar conditions were present during South Africa’s training session on Thursday (October 5) night.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-221067″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-rbi-adds-pm-vishwakarma-to-the-pidf-program-and-extends-the-duration-of-the-progra.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com rbi adds pm vishwakarma to the pidf program and extends the duration of the progra” width=”1330″ height=”745″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-rbi-adds-pm-vishwakarma-to-the-pidf-program-and-extends-the-duration-of-the-progra.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-rbi-adds-pm-vishwakarma-to-the-pidf-program-and-extends-the-duration-of-the-progra-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1330px) 100vw, 1330px” title=”Temba Bavuma is the most active player during the South Africa nets at the ICC World Cup as Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen square off 9″>

They warmed up and played a grueling game of football to start their practice. The team was then split up, with the majority going into the back nets while the majority remained out on the main field for fielding practice.

There were three nets in use: the spinners used the corner-most net, the pacers the furthest net, and the throw-downs the center net.

The spinners’ net was the busiest of the three because Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen engaged in an entertaining duel there.

Jansen, who spent the most of his time batting rather than bowling, was struck by a probing spell from Maharaj.

Jansen attempted to challenge Maharaj, but he was only able to do it with less deliveries.

The moment when the lanky pacer attempted to utilize his feet against the cunning Maharaj, who succeeded in tricking his South African teammate, was the highlight.

Before returning to their work, the two exchanged a few words and laughed it off.

Maharaj would have a sardonic grin on his face each time the batter was defeated.

But Maharaj didn’t think twice to clap after each successful shot Jansen made.

Over 100 schoolchildren were practicing with the two large South African and Sri Lankan flags that would be used for the national anthems before the game while the players prepared.

Returning to the nets, Temba Bavuma faced pacers Gerald Coetzee and Lizaad Williams, while Quinton De Kock accepted throwdowns from Head Coach Rob Walter.

In a session that else seemed to be relaxing, Bavuma was in reality one of the more active players.

After 30 minutes, hitting coach JP Duminy instructed the hitters to switch out their nets. Bavuma immediately walked up to the spinner’s net.

Jansen paused, however, before entering the pacers’ lair.

Heinrich Klassen, David Miller, and Aiden Markram entered the nets after more than an hour of fielding practice on the main field.

While Klassen and Miller prepared to bat and suited up, Markram worked on his off-breaks with Tabraiz Shamsi. More chirps might be heard from the spinners’ net than from the hitters.

Along with a net bowler, Shamsi and Markram bowled to Klassen.

Shamsi seemed to be in excellent rhythm and often outplayed the batsmen, sometimes catching them just in front of the stumps.

Proteas aren’t recognized for their skill against the spin, so even though they had some nice moments, they sometimes struggled.

Klassen followed Bavuma and Jansen in concentrating on playing reverse sweeps when facing spin.

If it ends up being useful will have to wait till later.

In preparation for their inaugural match against a spin-heavy Sri Lanka, the South Africans have been working hard in their anti-spin drills.

After a fielding practice, pacers Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi on the opposite side were lounging in the back when they eventually picked up the ball.

However, the team didn’t originally bowl to any hitters. Instead, they attempted to improve it by using a shorter run-up.

At one point, Rabada asked the coach which stump to aim for. Before ultimately bowling to Reeza Hendricks, the pair gradually increased their run ups.

Then, Williams, Bavuma, Jansen, and Maharaj headed to the main field and began their fielding exercises. These exercises featured grounded shots as well as high and flat catches.

The South African team seemed to be generally at ease and had a clear idea of what they wanted to get out of the practice session. They all took turns in the nets and on the field.

Just as the online game session seemed to be winding down, Bavuma once again padded up and accepted throwdowns from Duminy.

He was the most engaged participant the whole time, perhaps still attempting to defend his lack of sleep.
